Fun(ky) Two-Tone Pedicure

image

I have a really fun pedicure for you guys that is so super easy! All you need to do is look through your stash of nailpolish and pick two colors you think you go well together! That’s it!

I saw this two-tone pedicure a lot when we were traveling around Italy and Paris over the summer and I knew I wanted to replicate it and share it with you once we got home!

No need to be a pro at painting detailed nail designs! If you can paint your nails, you can do this! And the other great thing, is you can do this as a manicure with more muted or neutral colors (if you need your nails to be subdued and more “work appropriate!”)

I picked orange and a corally pink creme polish (creme=no shimmer), but I also saw black and white combos that were really chic!

Here’s what you need:

•2 nailpolish colors that you think go well together

•your favorite clear top coat

Here’s how to do it (it’s stupid easy!):

•paint your big toenail one color of choice, and the rest of your toenails in the other color!

Done.  See?! EASY!!

Pamper your piggies while it’s still summer time and sandal season!!

What color combos will you try?!

Hello, Monday!

This quote speaks to me because I think we’ve all felt like our lives are lacking direction at some time or another, but in reality if you look back, things have really changed.

My point is that we may feel as if we’re doing nothing, but every day IS leading to change and better things no matter how big or small your strides are.

Isn’t it funny though, how every day feels the same, but looking back your life has come so far? Just proves that small changes that seem like nothing really add up to good stuff!

Go kick butt this week!

phelpsI thought this was appropriate #motivationmonday content, seeing as the Olympics just ended yesterday.

We get caught up focusing so much on other people’s success that we forget to just keep our eye on the prize, whatever that prize may be for us. Everyone else’s end goals are different. But in the case when it’s not different (for instance, Michael Phelps and his competitor here clearly both want to win the gold medal), let’s try channeling our energy solely on ourselves and what we want to accomplish and HOW we will get there. Let’s do our best not to compare what and how we’re goal crushing with the person next to us trying to do the same thing. Not only does it amplify angst and feelings of not being good enough, but it’s going to slow us down!

Case in point – Michael Phelps isn’t looking at the next lane over….he’s looking toward the finish. And I think you know who wins 🙂

I’m just going to let this one sit with you, let it stew.

We always have a million things going on in our day to day life. It’s like we forget to think because we are do damn distracted all. the. time.

How about we make it our goal this week to SIMPLIFY.

Whatever that means to you. And hopefully it will help us find the simple answers.

Funny-Quotes-about-Inspiration

Hello again!

Isn’t it bizarre how TRUE this is? It sucks to be on the receiving end, or hear through the grapevine stuff about yourself that simply isn’t true, no matter how big or small.

This is the kind of thing where I like to take a step back from myself and do a little self assessment. It can be so easy to get sucked into that game when you’re with your girlfriends and you’re gossiping about harmless nonsense (probably all about yourselves) and the next thing you know, the chatter has migrated to being about other people.

We’re all guilty. No one is perfect, it happens.

Let’s just decide right now to do our best to steer clear of this kind of “talk.” Imagine what it’s like putting yourself in someone else’s shoes. We never know the other side of the story, the side we can’t see or didn’t hear about.

And ultimately, if we don’t put ourselves in these kinds of situations where we’re the ones doing the most talking about other people, then more than likely, less people will talk about us that way too.

Strawberry Limonata + Cranberry Cocktail

image

Ugh, I had a hard time naming this blog post. You want to try a drink that actually sounds appealing. Strawberry CranLemonade…Strawberry Cranade….Strawberry Cranberry Lemonade….You see my dilemma? maybe not.

image

Moving on. This drink just screams summer, especially when you serve it in a classy as hell plastic wine glass. Don’t judge. Because you know what that means–I get to bring this bad boy drink to the pool. (Crossing off that summer bucket list item I posted about a few weeks ago!)
I made this drink two ways; one with strawberry lemonade vodka and one with regular vodka. Can you guess which one we BOTH liked better? (It was the one with strawberry lemonade).

These are super simple to make which is always a bonus. You don’t need a shaker or anything.

image

Here’s what you need:

•strawberry lemonade vodka (or regular if you prefer)
•lemonade
•cranberry juice
•ice
•maraschino cherries
•lemons (for a wedge and/or fancy curly lemon peel)

You can easily make this in single servings or make a whole pitcher for friends.

Take equal parts cranberry juice and lemonade and mix together. I used light lemonade because who doesn’t appreciate less calories?! Add your strawberry lemonade vodka/regular vodka to taste. I made single servings for us and I put a shot and half of alcohol. (We’re light weights, so that was plenty).

Garnish with a cherry (which wil sadly sink to the bottom and not show it’s pretty face for the photos) and a lemon peel and wedge.

Go grab a towel, bathing suit and head to the pool!

Oh and don’t forget the sunscreen!!!

I love this quote because I feel like it reflects what I want this blog to reflect. Besides the fun stuff I share here like the DIYs and recipes and nail polish stuff, I hope that you get the sense that I’m rooting for every single one of you. I think women in particular need a community where we can feel supported by every other woman, even if we don’t know her personally.

Try to love your imperfections. The imperfections you may hate, might be something someone else loves about you.
