This DIY coffee body scrub is guilt and calorie free! Because we are using it on the outside of our bodies. While I wouldn’t normally suggest rubbing some sort of food on yourself, this one is totally cool. And you most likely have all the ingredients on hand to make it and pamper yourself with!
Now, they say that caffeine is a great way to diminish the look of cellulite…if used religiously and over time. While no one likes cellulite, I also don’t have the patience to wait for it to go away over a long period of time, nor am I going to remember to use it a LOT.
If you think you have the stamina to combat cellulite with this scrub, go right ahead; but I’m loving this scrub for it’s sheer power to EXFOLIATE! I forget how much I love to exfoliate until I actually do (see? proof I don’t do it often at all, because I literally forget that I like doing it.)
The leftover coffee grounds are nice and gritty, plus the sugar adds another level of sloughing off all the good stuff, and the coconut oil is super moisturizing. Oh, and if you love the smell of coffee brewing or the grounds after it’s done, then this is like heaven in your shower!
I used the leftover grounds from when I made a fresh batch of my favorite cold brew coffee. If you’ve never heard of cold brew coffee or want to find out how to make some yourself, check out the post I did on it a while back. You can read it here.
Here’s what you need to make it:
- 1 cup of coffee grounds
- 6 tbsp coconut oil (mine was a little oily so you might be able to cut back on this amount)
- 3 tbsp sea salt or sugar (I used sugar because I didn’t have a lot of sea salt left)
- empty jar (there’s a reason I save empty jars with lids!)
- Put coffee grounds and sugar (or salt) in a bowl
- melt the coconut oil in the microwave (keep an eye on it)
- mix the oil in with the coffee mixture
- put it in a jar
- slather it on your body and rub gently in circular motions for nice and even exfoliation!
P.S. – As I was in the shower I put this on my legs and just kept out of the direct stream of water while I conditioned my hair/washed my face etc. If you feel a little too oily after rinsing it off, just use a little soap to cut down the grease – and be careful not to slip in the shower afterwards!
P.P.S.- Your skin will feel SO smooth after!
P.P.P.S. – you could gift this around the holidays and put it in a nice jar with a pretty ribbon and a label!
P.P.P.P.S. – Today’s my birthday. 🙂
love & cupcakes,
